Each year, LMSC honors two travel team coaches and one intramural coach for outstanding contributions to
the club as well as overall success in adhering to the club philosophy
of "providing each and every child with a fun filled experience in a soccer environment."
Our Girls Travel Team Coach Of The Year Award
goes to Nikki Posillico, head coach for our Under 9A girls travel team, the LMSC Thunderbolts. In their first season of play, the
Thunderbolts finished with a 6-3 record in the Philadelphia Area Soccer League's First Division. A former star player for the Villanova
University Women's Team, Nikki, has helped raise the level of the LMSC Girls Travel Team Program with her excellent knowledge of the
game. This is Nikki's second time winning the award as she previously was selected as the LMSC Girls Travel Team Coach Of The Year back
in 2002. Congratulations to Nikki and the LMSC Thunderbolts on an excellent season.
Our Boys Travel Team Coach Of The Year Award
winner is Joe Taylor, head coach for the Under 10B LMSC Barcelona team. This fall was their second season in
the Delco Soccer League. The team reached the semifinals of the second division and finished with a 7-4-1 record.
Joe is a former standout player at Villanova University. Before
that he was the Catholic League's Most Valuable Player at Archbishop Wood High School where he earned all-state honors and was a Regional All American selection.
Joe is also the head coach for the LMSC Fightin' Freedom, our Under 15A girls travel team as well as an assistant coach for Villanova
University Men's team. LMSC would like to thank Joe for being a great addition to the coaching staff and congratulate him on being the 2011
winner of the 2011 LMSC Boys Travel Team Coach Of The Year.
Our Intramural Coach Of The Year Award
goes to Matt Schwartz, a former player in the LMSC Travel Team Program. This fall, Matt took over as the head of the Pee-Wees Division of our
intramural program. The Pee-Wees Division is where our four year olds play, many LMSC players got their start in the Pee-Wees program. Matt is
responsible for over 240 youngsters in that program. The players are spread out over six different divisions, all playing at different times on
Sundays. Matt was a star player for Lower Merion High School and then played for nationally ranked Hobart College (division III) for four years
where he was MVP of the team in his senior year. This is Matt's third year working with our youngest intramural players. Our club is glad
to have Matt back in the program and happy to honor him as the 2011 LMSC Intramural Coach Of The Year.
