COACH OF THE YEAR AWARDS

FALL 2020 COY WINNERS ANNOUNCED

LMSC honors two travel team coaches and one intramural coach at the end of each season as Coach Of The Year winners. Our Award winners are recognized for outstanding contributions to the club as well as overall success in adhering to the club's philosophy of "providing each and every child with a fun filled experience in a soccer environment."

Our Fall, 2020 Girls Travel Team Coach Of The Year Award winner is Nico Severini, head coach for the Under 14A LMSC Furia team. This is the second time that Nico has been awarded as our Girls Travel Team Coach Of The Year Award winner, having also won the award back in 2012. This fall, Nico led his Furia team to the Mid-Atlantic Premier I Blue EDP Championship with his team recording a very impressive record of 7 wins, 1 loss and 1 tie in the extremely tough league. Nico has also been head coach for the very successful Lower Merion High School boys varsity team for many years.

Our Fall, 2020 Boys Travel Team Coach Of The Year Award winner is John Witkowski, head coach for the LMSC Bobcats, our Under 13 B boys travel team and head coach for the LMSC Mayhem, our Under 15 B boys travel team. John took over both of these teams from other coaches this year and did a tremendous job. John led the Mayhem team to the Penn Championship I league in EDP, guiding them to a record of 6 wins, 0 loses and 3 ties. John did a great job with both teams in bringing the players together as one team and having them play great soccer with a lot of enthusiasm and sportsmanship. John coached at the college level for many years and has become a great addition to the LMSC staff the past two years.

Our Fall, 2020 Intramural Coach Of The Year Award goes to Annie McConnon and Gaby Mazzoni. The fall 2020 season was a very difficult year for everyone, thanks to Covid-19. Many colleges shut down their soccer teams this fall, leaving lots of college players without a place to play. LMSC was lucky to have several local area college players step into the coaching ranks this fall. Annie McConnon is a senior at St. Joseph's University and a member of their soccer team. Gaby Mazzoni is a sophomore soccer player at West Chester University who played in LMSC as a youngster for about 13 years. Both Annie and Gaby took on intramural teams and both did great jobs, sharing their strong soccer backgrounds with their players. Annie was head coach for the Bantams Division (6 year old boys) England team while Gaby was head coach for the Electrons Division (10 and 11 year old girls) Monarchs team. Annie also served as assistant coach for the LMSC Girls Developmental Academy. LMSC was fortunate to have both of them coaching this year. We hope that both of them will come back and coach in LMSC in future years.
