COACH OF THE YEAR AWARDS

SPRING 2021 COY WINNERS ANNOUNCED

LMSC honors two travel team coaches and one intramural coach at the end of each season as Coach Of The Year winners. Our Award winners are recognized for outstanding contributions to the club as well as overall success in adhering to the club's philosophy of "providing each and every child with a fun filled experience in a soccer environment."

Our Spring, 2021 Girls Travel Team Coach Of The Year Award winner is Jeff Rhodes, head coach for the Under 10A LMSC Swarm team and head coach for our Under 17 LMSC Reign team. This spring, Jeff had both of his teams well prepared for state cup competition. The Reign were crowned Under 17 President's Cup Champions (B flight of state cups) and advanced to the Regional competition. The Swarm were semifinalists in the Under 10 top flight of state cups. Jeff has been with LMSC for many years now. He has also been the head coach for the Harriton High School girls varsity for the past 10 years where he teaches. This is Jeff's second time winning the LMSC Travel Team Coach Of The Year Award, having won it previously in 2014.

Our Spring, 2021 Boys Travel Team Coach Of The Year Award winner is Dale Haines, head coach for the LMSC Irmaos Navy, our boys Under 10 A travel team and co-head coach of LMSC Invictus, our boys Under 17 A team. LMSC Invictus were crowned Under 17 state champions and advanced to the Region One championship. Dale co-coaches this team along with LMSC Technical Director Sam Lane. Under Dale's leadership, Invictus has reached the state cup championship game four straight years. This was Invictus' second state championship as they also won the state cups at U-13 where they advanced to the finals of the Region One competition. Dale also led LMSC Irmaos Navy to the Under 10 boys state cup semifinals where they lost a tough game in overtime. Irmaos has also had a lot of success in league play and play up a year against older competition on a regular basis.

Dale was also voted LMSC Travel Team Coach Of The Year this year because of his excellent leadership in leading LMSC through the very difficult and complicated challenge of Covid-19. Thanks to Dale, no player in LMSC transmitted Covid-19 to another person on a soccer field and no LMSC player got Covid on a soccer field. Dale was responsible for deciding when a player needed to be temporarily removed from participating with his / her team and going into quarantine. Dale also had the difficult task of deciding when a team (travel or intramural) had to temporarily shutdown (both games and practices). Dale was very instrumental in helping LMSC function successfully during what was probably the biggest obstacle the club has dealt with in our 50+ year history.

Our Spring, 2021 Intramural Coach Of The Year Award goes to Franky-Ann Carrozza, co-director of our Level 1 intramural program (4 and 5 year olds). It is very important that we run programs for our youngest players so that they learn to fall in love with the game of soccer and also learn the fundamental skills of the game. Under Franky's leadership, our newest players have been able to get off to a great start in their young soccer careers. Franky was a full time preschool and kindergarten teacher for 10 years. She played youth soccer growing up and later played field hockey and lacrosse at Lehigh University. She has coached numerious sports, including soccer, field hockey, lacrosse and floor hockey for a wide range of age groups. Franky also coached in the US Field Hockey Futures Olympic Development Program.
