LMSC'S STANCE ON SOCIAL DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

Below are excerpts from a letter originally sent out to all LMSC members on June 9, 2020, during the height of the "Black Lives Matter" peaceful protests. We sent this letter a second time on August 28, 2020 to remind our members of where LMSC stands and what our objectives are, regarding diversity and inclusion.

The LMSC leadership would like to remind all participants, and family members, that we are an organization of diversity and acceptance.

We offer high level travel teams, moderate level travel teams lower level travel teams, intramural programs (fall and spring) and a very successful Special Needs Program for children with physical, social and mental limitations. We expect our leadership, coaches, referees, players and their families to embrace this diversity. We hire coaches and staff based on their qualifications, regardless of race, religion, gender or sexual orientation.

This is a time for LMSC leadership, coaches, referees, players and their families to come together and continuously support, in a peaceful and impactful manner, changes that are needed to become a more inclusive and loving society for ALL. We must EMBRACE diversity and not simply accept it. We must encourage everyone to embrace coaches, players, referees and spectators, no matter their gender, race, religion or sexual orientation.

If you believe that our organization is not living up to these expectations, please feel free to contact me, my e-mail address is below. I will be glad to discuss the issue with you and work to find a way to rectify any and all problems that may arise, related to LMSC. This applies now and at any time in the future.

Sincerely,

Biff Sturla
