SABERTOOTH RATS WIN U-9 INDOOR STATE CUPS



January 30, 2010 - The Sabertooth Rats won the Under 9 boys Indoor State Cup Championship, outscoring their opponents 30-1 in the tournament.

The Rats opened up against Lehigh Valley. Nine seconds into the game, Jason Aoyama scored the first goal of the tournament. LMSC continued to dominate the game and wound up winning 10-0.

In their second game, LMSC again won by shutout, defeating the Ukrainian Nationals Arsenal 6-0. Their third game was against HMMS who were the Central Penn League champions in the fall. Again, LMSC came out on top, 8-1. The goal they allowed in this game would be the only one they would allow in the tournament. It came with LMSC up 7-0 and goalie Sebastian Connelly having since moved out of goal and up to forward.

The championship game was played against Cantalao USA from Scranton. Again LMSC took quick control of the game and coasted to a 6-0 shutout victory. With the scored 4-0, goalie Connelly was called up to make an excellent save on a penalty shot.

During the tournament, all 10 LMSC players scored at least one goal.
