LMSC INVICTUS (U-13A BOYS) TAKE
SECOND AT REGION ONE CHAMPIONSHIPS

July 4, 2017 - The Region One Championships is a tournament for all state champions from Maine through West Virginia in the U-12 through U-19 age groups. LMSC Invictus were crowned U-13 boys state champions and advanced to the Region One championships, held in Spotsylvania, Virginia.

Invictus opened up their bracket competition with a 2-0 win over Delaware FC. They followed that win with a 7-0 win over Hotspurs Blue. Invictus needed a win or tie in their third and final bracket game where they played a very tough Arlington Red team (Virginia state champions). The game ended in a 1-1 which put Invictus into the semifinals.

The semifinals saw Invictus return to their winning ways with a 4-2 win over SCS United. The win earned the team a spot in the Region One finals against Real JFC, the New Jersey state champions. Real scored first in the game but Invictus tied it up to force overtime. With only a minute left in the second overtime, Real scored another goal to claim the title of Region One Champion.

LMSC would like to congratulate the Invictus players, as well as head coach Dale Haines and assistant coach Jesse Zafiratos on a great showing in the tournament.
