February 11, 2018 -
Congratulations to former LMSC player Filippa Graneld who was selected to play for the Sweden Women's Under 17 National Team. Originally from Sweden,
In 2015, Filippa and her family
moved to Lower Merion Township for two years where she played for the LMSC Storm (current U-18 team). Filippa was part of the Storm's state championship teams
in 2016 and 2017. The Storm are also Region One semifinalists. Filippa and her family returned to Sweden in July, 2017.
As a high school player, Filippa was a first team All-Central League selection as a sophmore at Harriton in 2016.
LMSC Storm head coach Pete Gangl noted that "Filippa is probably the most technical player I have ever coached. She is constantly working on her skills, whether it
be at practice, at school or at home. Her commitment to the game and to improving is unbelievable."
LMSC would like to wish "Flip" the best of luck in her soccer. Hopefully we will see her playing against the USA Women's National Team in a future World Cup.
